Your face is a big part of how you perceive yourself and how others recognize you. Tooth Loss and Facial Collapse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you lose all or most of your teeth, you will notice a difference in your appearance right away. Without the teeth to support them, your lips and cheeks may take on a sunken appearance. When this happens, tooth loss can make you seem years older almost immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, the aesthetic impact of tooth loss does not stop there. After the teeth are removed, a natural process known as resorption happens in the jawbone. Basically, that means your body is recycling the bone because it is no longer necessary to serve as a strong base for your teeth. Eventually, the bone loss can reach the point where your face looks much shorter than it used to be. Your chin may take on a retruded or more pointed look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facial collapse can also affect your skin. Without bones and teeth to support it, it can start to sag. Many people who have lost all their teeth have prominent jowls and deep wrinkles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their job is to act as prosthetic tooth roots; they provide the stimulation the jawbone needs in order to stay healthy, strong and whole \u2014 no bone resorption!
