Frequently Asked Questions

Our team at Piney Point Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is here to answer your questions. Over the years, we’ve received countless inquiries from individuals looking to better understand where they can receive the best oral healthcare as well as how to afford more advanced and complex dental procedures. Fortunately, our dentists near Cypress are here to provide the answers so that you don’t have to spend hours searching the internet. Take a look below and contact us if you would like to meet with a member of our team to discuss your concerns further.

What is the best way to find a dentist who does dental implants?

Since dental implants are considered a superior form of tooth replacement, it’s important that you find someone with the advanced skill and talent to deliver successful, long-lasting results. Many dentists offer to restore dental implants but cannot place them. This is why they often refer patients to nearby specialists. These can include periodontists, oral surgeons, and prosthodontists. At Piney Point OMS, our oral surgeons are both involved in multiple professional organizations that focus on the research and experience of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

This is, by far, the most effective way to ensure that your new teeth are placed by true professionals who have the experience, training, and knowledge to position and align dental implants.

What do you do if you can’t afford an oral surgeon?

When it comes to paying for more complex and extensive dental treatment, it’s important that you have a clear understanding of what will be expected regarding the cost. If you can use your medical or dental insurance to pay for treatment, this will be your most effective way to save money. However, if private dental insurance is not an option, many professionals offer to make special arrangements to help you minimize the potential for financial stress that can often occur when faced with more invasive oral healthcare procedures.

How much does it cost to get a tooth pulled without insurance?

The cost associated with tooth removal is largely dependent on the geographic location of the practice, your dental health, the location of the tooth that needs extraction, and the type of tooth being removed.

On average, tooth removal can run between $150 and $400 in the United States. If you require sedation dentistry or additional preliminary procedures, you can expect them to be added to the overall cost of care. Naturally, using your dental insurance to pay for treatment is the best solution; however, if this is not possible, you can inquire about making special arrangements to lower your financial burden.

You should also know that if it is your wisdom teeth that need to be extracted, the cost will likely be higher because of the surgical component that is often required with this type of treatment.

How can I get emergency dental care?

When faced with a sudden dental injury, you’ll want to see someone right away to avoid worsening symptoms. This is why many practices provide same-day emergency appointments. You’ll want to make sure that you first call and inform a member of the staff. If you’re suffering from a broken or fractured jaw, increased swelling that is inhibiting your breathing, or excessive bleeding, it is best that you get to your local ER immediately. Otherwise, members of your dental team will work quickly to address the issue the same day so that you walk away free of pain and with a smile that is in better shape.

At Piney Point OMS, our team can schedule same-day appointments to help address any facial or oral health injuries you sustain. With oral surgeons near Cypress who are equipped to address even the most complex cases, we can improve the status of your smile so that you can continue to enjoy your smile day after day.
